TSS Academy Roots
As a soccer organization, TSS Football Club originally started as a training Academy in 1997. TSS Academy established a very strong reputation over the years by helping young players from across the Lower Mainland develop their skills. That training Academy still exists today but has become a separate organization from the soccer club. The Academy is now known as Total Soccer.
TSS Football Club has a strong partnership with Total Soccer as it's operated by the same owners as the club, has the same development philosophy, and employs many of the same quality instructors. Total Soccer is a program for players of all different levels from different soccer clubs right across the Lower Mainland. The training takes place at the Richmond Olympic Oval on their outdoor training fields.
Joining TSS Football Club
In some cases, if a player requests an evaluation with TSS Football Club, we may ask Total Soccer to include that player in a few weekend sessions first to get a better sense of the player's ability. From there, we can invite the player out for a few sessions with the team to see if it's a fit.
Formal evaluations for players to join TSS Football Club only take place for players who are currently outside the club. Players at TSS Football Club are assessed throughout the season as they train and play. It's our intention and hope to retain as many TSS players as possible as they progress through their youth soccer journey. While each TSS player has a significant role to play in their own development, we see it ultimately as our responsibility to help players progress to that next level.
If you are interested in being assessed at TSS for consideration in one our programs, we ask first that you read through this website as much as possible to get a good sense of our club values. An important place to start is our Blueprint for Development.

As a private soccer organization, you may find that we are quite different in how we approach the game. Ultimately, TSS is a player development program. We are focussed on the growth and success of the individual player. Choosing to come to TSS solely because you want to be on a "winning team" is likely not the best reason to join our organization. While many of our teams may be successful on the scoreboard, it's important that all our players share the common overarching goal individual development - even if that comes at a cost in the short term with respect to team success.
There are also evaluation camps that sometimes take place for players interested in joining TSS Football Club. Those generally take place for players wishing to join the U11 intake team. They also take place for the U13 BCSPL intake team since we grow from 8 aside soccer to 11 aside soccer and require more players to round out the U13 team. The dates for those evaluation camps will be posted on this page.
"It's our belief that young players should be instructed to play the game thoughtfully, playing through the thirds of the field. This is what builds skill and soccer IQ. Aimlessly kicking the ball forward in the hope of generating opposition errors develops none of those things."
